I bought the XPS before 20.04 was released after the upgrade the fingerprint scanner disapeard, i think dell dropped some hardware support cause the repos were disabled, the fingerprint scanner didnt work on 18.04 either but the option was there.

This works almost perfect, except the fingerprint reader (FPR). Apparently there doesn't seem to be a driver for Linux. Acer Swift 3 - Fingerprint Sensor compatibility in Linux (Fedora 28 Workstation) I've installed Fedora 28 on my Swift 3 (SF314-52-527W - i5 7200u - 8GB RAM - 256GB Micron SSD), and I've found that the fingerprint reader (which I used when the laptop ran Windows 10) doesn't work with Linux. 
In the mean time, if you have a fingerprint reader that works on Linux, you can use the current UI to login in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS - which just like many Focal Fossa fans already are.
